But Denisovans are a sister species of Neanderthals genetically, not a hybrid of Neanderthals and Homo Erectus even though that would be a plausible conclusion if we didn't have the DNA from Neanderthals and Denisovans to rule it out.andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08172964121659914379noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7315236707728759521.post-188579423776617562021-02-06T22:48:51.321-07:002021-02-06T22:48:51.321-07:00I think because Homo Erectus and Neanderthals inha...I think because Homo Erectus and Neanderthals inhabbited the same region, they interbread, giving place to the Denisovans. Half Neanderthal, half Erectus. In recent methilation, they had parietal bones, very elongated skull as well. I don't agree with the recent Denisovan reconstruction through mithelation, but some features do match Denisovans. They were talking about 3 denisovan populations. One from the altie mountains, one from asia and one from New Guinea, and one from native austrailians. What is weird is this, native austrailians have some Homo Erectus trates. I think that this came as a result of the asian populations. Eather that, or the Jinniushan skeleton and the Dali Man skull, and other unidentifyable skulls from China and the Altie mountains in Cyberia come from the same population. Yet again I find myself reflecting on the sad strangeness of just one hominid species (us) existing worldwide these days in stark contrast to the rich diversity of human forms in the relatively recent past. And yes those Red Dear Cave People too! Such a. Shame no DNA has been detected from those fossils. I think Chris Stringer has suggested they could be a Denisovan/Erectus Hybrid?? And I'm just waiting for more Flores like hominids to be discovered on other isolated SE Asian islands someday! And they seem closer to pre homo ancestors even though they had advanced stone technology & brains only as big as chimps yet way more sophisticated obviously in internal organisation. Sorry for rabbiting on, this subject just never fails to fill me with wonder...Steiner62https://www.blogger.com/profile/09315811384355344395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7315236707728759521.post-30528846854513699392018-03-30T12:24:17.977-06:002018-03-30T12:24:17.977-06:00Possible. There is indeed some extremely archaic admixture in the Denisovan genome so there was something along that line happening.andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08172964121659914379noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7315236707728759521.post-27499675829062260172018-03-28T09:03:17.209-06:002018-03-28T09:03:17.209-06:00How about a mix of late Homo erectus and Denisovan...How about a mix of late Homo erectus and Denisovan?
