Close to Dienekes' 'Persian Gulf refuge'. terrythttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17327062321100035888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7315236707728759521.post-69201583017203838992016-04-12T21:24:44.574-06:002016-04-12T21:24:44.574-06:00"This supports a possible Levatine route out ..."This supports a possible Levatine route out of Africa for first wave modern humans (alternately, a Gate of Tears population could have migrated from interior Arabia to the Levant, or both)"

I have had a huge problem accepting the Gate of Tears route since it was first proposed. That crossing would have required a relatively advanced boating technology as it is reasonably treacherous. To me there is no evidence for boating capable of reaching even any offshore islands in the Mediterranean until close to the Neolithic whereas some sort of advanced boating was obviously in use in SE Asia by 50,000 years ago. I strongly suspect the boating technology necessary to cross Wallace's Line was carried west by migrating humans, possibly via the Ganges and Indus.

"I am close to the tipping point where I feel that I can take this evidence seriously, despite its deviation from well established paradigms [East Asia where there is increasingly strong evidence of modern humans pre-100 kya possibly arriving via a northern route]".

You are probably aware that I have also had a huge problem accepting the great southern migration route since it was first proposed. There has never been any genetic evidence and even the archaeological evidence is shaky. terrythttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17327062321100035888noreply@blogger.com
