The Central South Asian population known as the Gonds speak a Dravidian language outside and to the North of the main Dravidian linguistic area. From a population genetics standpoint, they look more like speakers of the Northern Munda Austro-Asiatic languages (derived from Southeast Asia) who experienced language shift at some point, and have little or no contribution of a component associated with Indo-Aryan migrants into India.
Is it possible that the predecessors of the Brahui spoke a different Elamo-Dravidian language? They and the Baloch seem quite distinct in their relatively low levels of IE admixture (as noted by Razib).
