While trying to get a sense of what late medieval life in Irish clans was like, I came across a wonderful recent Master's thesis from the University of Southern Mississippi, the full text of which is available online. It is:
Dawn Adelaide Seymour Klos, "When We Were Monsters: Ethnogenesis In Medieval Ireland 800-1366" (August 2017).
It is a very readable account of the Viking and subsequent Norman periods of Irish medieval history and how those periods contributed to a new Irish national culture.
