More Constraints On 750 GeV Resonance Models

The 750 GeV resonance observed at ATLAS and CMS and announced last December has spawned more than 750 papers.  One of the more impressive new papers uses the impact the a hypothetical new scalar or pseudoscalar boson and its vector-like fermion intermediate states would have on the running on the strong force coupling constant that has been measured to date, along with limits from direct LHC searches for decaying heavy particles, to very tightly constrain the parameter space of any realistic model.

Bottom line: if the 750 GeV resonance is real, there need to be more new particles awaiting us at masses of less than 1,000 GeV, which is right around the corner.  Otherwise, this resonance is almost surely a statistical fluke.
